OECD Humanitarian Assistance

Australian Foreign Aid

The recent OECD report on net official development assistance (ODA) reveals that Australia fell to the 17th spot among the 29 member countries of the Development Assistance Committee (DAC). In this article, published in On Line Opinion, I argue why Australia should increase its current level of foreign aid. I construct the argument based on three reasons other than simple altruism: tackling the issue of immigration/asylum seekers, countering terrorism, and creating new markets.
