In this article, I explore Marx’s concept of exploitation. First, I define exploitation based on the idea of surplus-value. To do this, I start with the commodity, its price, and its exchange value. I then move to the components of the cost of production, the idea of surplus-value, and finally, exploitation. I finish the essay by exploring two important misreadings of Marx’s view regarding injustice and determination by the market.
